"Every single thing you do matters. You have been created as one of a kind. You have been created in order to make a difference. You have within you the power to change the world." -Andy Andrews In a world teeming with humanity, it's easy to feel lost in the shuffle. We live our lives day in and day out, but often feel like we're not really making much of a difference in the lives of others. Andy Andrews' book "The Butterfly Effect" is an inspirational little book that contends that our every action can have a significant impact on others, even generations to come. Starting with the story of a Union captain whose actions altered the course of the Civil War, Andrews shares a variety of short vignettes that make it clear how important our every action is. This is a lovely little book and I enjoyed reading it. It is a quick read and beautifully presented. I'd highly recommend it as a gift for a loved one.

This is a short, but very profound, book. Andy Andrews' newest book touched me in a way that few books do - with a lasting impact. A must read that would make a perfect gift for just about anyone!

I want to say up front, some people are going to be disappointed by this book, because they are going to measure it by volume, not by content. THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT by Andy Andrews can be read cover to cover in fifteen minutes, but I have read 1,000 page tomes that did not contain a fraction of the message and meaning of this tiny book. If you have seen Andy's DVD, The Seven Decisions, this is the same message Andy presents regarding the butterfly effect, specifically where he talks about the actions of Col. Chamberlin and Norman Borlaug. These are both incredible stories everyone should hear. I have used both of these stories to close training meetings and they are always met with tremendous emotion. I want to take just a moment to place my own little spin on the butterfly effect. Things happen for a reason. God has a Divine plan that is beyond our comprehension. Have you ever known exactly where you were going but for some reason took a wrong turn? You've made this same journey 1,000 times but for some reason today, you weren't paying attention and turned left instead of right. What were you thinking? Some people might slough this off as nothing, but I don't believe that. What if you had turned right as you always do? Perhaps by turning left, you avoided an accident and in that accident a young girl might have been injured or killed. Whose to say that young girl might have one day given birth to the person who someday cures cancer? By making a wrong turn, that tragedy was avoided. Now Andy's message here is much more deliberate and is more centered on the importance of every action we take, or don't, but the concept is the same. Actions matter. Actions make a difference and sometimes a much greater difference than we will ever be aware of. The 2 minute conversation you have the annoying neighbor kid may be of greater importance than the speech you give in front of a room full of people. Actions matter. If you want to under that concept better, read this little book.

The subtitle for this book is "How Your Life Matters" and it is so appropriate. We may never know how the things we do in our life affect other people even several generations removed. Mr. Andrew calls it a "ripple effect" and gives many examples of this through history. This book is easy to read in one short setting but makes you realize just how important the things we do everyday are. We never know which thing we do will make an impact on future generations so we should live our lives with that in mind. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and feel it is a good read for everyone. I plan to pass the book on and hope the next person to read it will do the same.

The gift book "The Butterfly Effect" is just that .. a gift book. It is beautifully and artistically put together - the kind of book that is visually appealing. The word content left me somewhat disappointed. It left me wishing the author had fleshed out his good ideas into a fuller text where the thoughts and stories were more developed. Perhaps that was not the intent of the book. The Butterfly Effect is based on Edward Lorenz's hypothesis that if a butterfly flaps his wings, setting molecules of air in motion, it would eventually result in a hurricane on the other side of the earth. Andrews takes this idea and applies it to the idea that each of our actions have that kind of effect. None of us can say that we are not important or that our life does not matter. We affect others by our words and actions in ways we cannot see. In the book, the author uses real life stories to demonstrate how a seemingly isolated or simple act/decision of one person changed the course of history. Not one of us is created without purpose, not one of us is expendable in the eyes of God and we have within us the potential to make a difference in the world in which we live. This book, like all of Andy Andrews books, is thought provoking in its unique presentation.

This edition of Andy Andrews' "The Butterfly Effect" turns the author's well-known speech into a delightful gift book. Andrews begins with Andrew Lorenz' butterfly effect theory and proceeds to demonstrate its accuracy via actions of such historical figures as George Washington Carver, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and many others. He looks at how their actions affected their contemporaries, and how their actions continue to affect us today -- many years after the fact. I found Andrews' little book to be thought-provoking and inspiring. The idea that all of us matter in ways that we don't even know is one that I believe should be taught early on; you never know when your kindness to another person will make a world of difference to them. Highly recommended.

I picked up this book, on the run..I usually dont buy gift books, but the title and the lovely illustrated pages caught my eye. I read it through, in about 15 minutes. The message is wonderful..I often think my life as a school bus driver and a cleaning lady isnt important to anyone. These are NOT high profile jobs..But according to the message of this book, what I do, IS meaningful not just now, but for the future. It also says that what you say or do, in any situation, has meaning; you just have to be aware of it. I also have had to live with the consequences of bad decisions, ill-spoken words and rash actions..still this book's message has power for good..Buy this book for yourself and especially for someone, who is struggling with thinking that their life doesnt matter much. It does.

I had seen the author talking about this book on TV, so I decided to buy it for a friend. It is BEAUTIFUL and would make an excellent gift, for men or women. Before I gave it to my friend, I decided to read it myself and I was very touched and encouraged. (Since it's a hardcover, you can't tell that anyone has read it!) I will be buying more.

There are not enough superlatives with which to describe this book! Outstanding! Stupendous! Touching! Encouraging! To every person who considers themselves a "nobody" who doesn't matter, think again! Read this book everyday for 6 months, and let the truth of if seep down inside your skin to the depths of your very being and then go out and MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Without cracking a scripture, Andy has gotten across a very scriptural point. God created each of us with a purpose and destiny and what we do, or don't do, the choices we make, they all matter! We matter! YOU matter! Thank you Andy for a most wonderful book. Because of your partnering with James Robison, my girlfriend saw you and bought me the book! I love it. Thank you God Bless You.Nancy
