It's hard to describe how something can impact a person in so very many ways. Thought provoking only begins to touch the tip of this book. I seldom read a book twice, but already I'm starting over again, almost hungry for Jones to reenter my life through the pages of The Noticer. Andy Andrews is a master storyteller, and a man with the gift of insight into what is truly real in our lives. Whether you read it all in one sitting, or digest it bits at a time, like decadent chocolate, you won't regret having picked up this book to consume it.... for consume it you will.

Come here son...come into the light" I am notoriously bad at moving out of the present and looking into the future at the next outcome I am working towards. Every once in a while I need a reminder. I often live a life without the right perspective. I see only the things that I want to see without noticing more about the people around. After reading the Noticer, I felt like my eyes had been opened again to the people before me. In The Noticer, Andy Andrews, paints a picture of an old man, Jones, who wanders in and out of a small, southern, beach town. The story begins with Jones meeting Andy, an orphaned twenty-three year old that is homeless, living under a local pier. Jones shares words with Andy about perspective that changes the course of Andy's life forever. That begins one tale of many of how Jones changes his perspective for many people. Jones helps busienss people, married couples, young people and everyone in between. This encouraging book brings home the importance of every moment of life, small things, big things, and everything in between. Jones crafts stories that bring great life. Jones is kind, gentle, tells the truth and isn't afraid of stepping into peoples lives. For any work I ask my self so what when I am done reading it. As I finished reading The Noticer, I was encouraged to do three things: 1. Make sure the people that I care about in life know it. 2. Make sure I am noticing the people in the world around me. 3. Encourage the people whose live I have influence in to care about those in their lives. My only caution would be great ready to read for a while. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down again.

It is hard to classify Andrews writing style. While it comes across as fiction it is almost more of a parable that inspires. The book stars a mysterious man named Jones. Jones shows up, it seems, just at the right time in the middle of people's crisis. Jones speaks like he is right from the Wisdom literature of the Bible. He "notices" things about the people who he interacts with and provides some practice and common sense things for them to think about. Often times it is just a way of pointing out the alternative way to look at something. In a way, he lifts people up above the trees so that they can see the forest. Perhaps one of the most important things that Jones does is to remind the characters in the book and the readers that the most important part of our lives are not what has happen, but what is ahead of us. No matter how bad it is now or was, we have the chance to choose to look forward to what the future can bring to us. Jones finds way to bring perspective to people who are going through a variety of crisis in their life such as marriage issues, dealing with bankruptcy, feeling like you have no hope and a variety of topics that could apply to your everyday person. Jones provides the perspective so that you can look at the situation in a different way and reclaim the situation to make a bad situation better. This book was a great read for me. I think that you will find that once you start, you cannot stop. Andrews does a good job of providing nuggets all through the book that we can take and use in our own lives just as much as those in the story. He walks us through how we can put on our "new perspective" glass and look at situations. Another part of the book that I appreciate is the reader's guide. It takes the story and makes it more personal to the reader by providing some thought provoking questions that can be used individually or in a group setting. That in itself is a blessing to me as I continue to read the book and think about how it impacts me. I recommend this book whole heartily. You will be hard pressed to not read this book and be touched by it.

This is a book that should be read by everyone, young and old, time and time again. Full of sage advice, lessons of life, and alternative, positive thinking, this is the perfect gift for your self, your family, you friends, and especially that person who "has everything." It's fairly short, so even those who are not readers are not intimidated by it's size and willing to pick it up, read a bit, and either keep going, or come back to it a little later. The quintessential conversation book.

I just finished reading your book "The Noticer" and WOW. It was a gift given to me by my grandmother (Betty Brooks) for Christmas 09. I'm not a big reader, but ever since I heard you on Rick & Bubba, I've been wanting to read your book. When I received your book, I couldn't hardly put it down and I could hardly wait to read it after my children went to bed. I found every lesson in there hitting home in my life. It was almost like you had written the book just for me. My nine year old daughter was so excited that I got the book also, because she remembered hearing you talk on Rick & Bubba. I've prayed that one day I will run into my own "JONES" that God has watching over me. Your book is the best book on life I have ever read and I'd have to say the best book period. I plan on buying some copies for family, so hopefully they will see a new "perspective" on life. Thank you Andy for writing this book and I thank God for putting "JONES" in your life and all of the other people in your book that he touched. Who knows, you may be my "JONES" because now I have a "NEW PERSPECIVE" on life. I grew up going to Gulf Shores in my teenage years, now 36, and have had many a meals at Sea-N-Suds. However, I now have a new image of that place in my head. Your Brother in Christ, Shawn

The Noticer is the first Andy Andrews book that I have read but it will most certainly not be the last. Having been married for almost 23 years, while reading this book , I realized that I have grown complacent with my expressions of love toward my husband. This book has awakened my appreciation for my husband's expressions of love toward me and given me a greater desire to express my love to him in a dialect that he will understand. Thank you Mr. Andrews for opening my eyes and my heart to view my circumstances and see other people with a renewed perspective.
