Andy's Impact - The Power of Choice
Friday, February 18, 2011
I heard Andy speak and had the privilege to meet him at a company convention. It was that day I began my "self improvement" journey. I recently finished reading "The Travelers Gift" for the third time and am currently reading “Mastering the Seven Decisions”. I am studying these books because of my participation in a book club that was formed with several members of our company ... new, inexperienced members along with us older, more seasoned (and a little battle scarred) veterans. We hold this book club via phone once a week. The impact that I have witnessed with every single person participating has been amazing and uplifting. I have seen the walls slowly come down; I have heard the creaking of the rusty gears starting to turn; and the eyes opening widely because of those personal “ah-ha” moments. In the beginning, many listened silently to the phone call, never uttering a word. Now, those same people wait with excitement to share their thoughts and ideas about the chapter we are discussing. I have seen those beaten down by life gain a restored sense of control … and with that comes hope. The greatest impact? Having the epiphany that your choices can completely change the direction of your life and that at any time, at any age, under any circumstance one can begin their own journey.
