Andy's Impact - The Butterfly Effect

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Hello Mr. Andrews:

My wife had given me your book "The Butterfly Effect" for Christmas.

I used to do a speech for the local American Red Cross where I used to talk about blood donation and how it saved my life and then the life of a young girl in Bowling Green, KY by the actions of our son Matthew Knight.

During my birth, my mother was in trouble with massive bleeding.  The doctors were afraid that they were going to lose my mother and myself as well.  Men from my grandfathers factory stood in line and gave blood and saved my mothers life as well as my own.

My wife and I had our son Matthew and he ended up saving the life of Susan Meeks here in Bowling Green when she was sucked into a drain during a rain storm.

Because of Matt's actions he was awarded the Boy Scout Medal of Honor with Cross Palms for Lifesaving and he ended up meeting the President of the United States in the Oval Office.

I always said in my speech that how could any one of those men who gave blood to my mother have understood that their action would save my life and give birth to a boy in the future who would save a young girl and then end up in the Oval Office in front of the President of the United States 46 years into the future.

What is amazing to us is that my wife did an Internet search for Scouting - Matt Knight and she ran across your book "Mastering the 7 Decisions" where you made mention of our son Matthew.  When I asked her who had written about our son she told me your name and I reached over and handed her your book that she had given me for Christmas.  How strange is that.

Thank you for writing about our son Matthew in your book.  Matt is now 24 and living in Memphis, TN.

Sincerely,

John and Mitsy Knight
