Stand By...Each Other
Friday, May 22, 2009
The past few weeks have been dizzying to me. The uncertainty of releasing a new book—KNOWING one cannot control what happens to it—along with the sheer volume of work and travel that goes with the experience… Well, lets just say it can seem overwhelming.
It is not my intention to bore you with the details of a long process that in the end might leave you thinking I was boasting about how hard our team worked. Instead, my amazement at what has begun to...

Forget What Is and Ask Yourself What If?
Tuesday, April 14, 2009
Hi Everyone!
As soon as you are able, please close your eyes and attempt to clear your mind for 30 seconds. Then, read the questions below and click play.
1) What is the "right" age for accomplishing my greatest dream?
2) Do I hear the laughter and believe the doubters when I am mocked for expecting life's very best?
3) What great possibility have I forced myself to stop considering?
4) Who will be inspired or benefit directly...

The Noticer Project
Tuesday, April 7, 2009
Dear Friends,
The Noticer is rooted in the belief that our time on this earth is a gift to be used wisely and one of the best ways to use that gift is by noticing those who have made an impact on our lives.

A New Dog!
Wednesday, April 1, 2009
It has been a quiet house for the past several months since our beloved Dalmatian, Lucy, passed away.

Then last night…Angel had kittens.

I Loved Lucy
Wednesday, March 18, 2009

She was one of twelve littermates when we chose her fifteen years ago and believe me, twelve Dalmatian puppies can seem like “a hundred and one” when they come tumbling into a room. They were six weeks old and (remember the movie…) their spots were just beginning to appear. The chubby female leading the pack promptly climbed into my wife’s lap and the selection process was over. It...

A Request for Help
Thursday, March 12, 2009

Interviews are a necessary, sometimes torturous part of what I do for a living. Unless you have experienced it (and I know some of you have) nothing can be as mind-numbingly uncomfortable as talking about yourself. In fact, the only thing worse than talking about yourself would be doing it repeatedly.
Some interviewers make it worse by asking questions that clue you in to the fact...

The Longest I've Worked For A Compliment
Wednesday, March 4, 2009

About twenty years. That is, the best I can figure, the longest I have worked for a compliment. I received it just the other day and it came from a woman I don't really know. The remark containing the compliment was made in the grocery store to Polly, my wife. But to understand why it means so much to me, we have to go back twenty years ...
Jerry Anderson, one of my best and longest tenured friends...
